Recently, a friend completed her second book, Beyond the Pale. Her first book, The Jewel Box, is an award winning effort well worth the read.
Beyond the Pale continues the legacy with a character driven plot that is a delight to read. Michelle's characters are vivid, and well crafted. It is a story of a teen (Abbie) who is rejected by her mother for becoming pregnant, given money, and told to leave town.
Years later, Abbie returns home with her son Mick to attend her mothers funeral. She and her son endure a full spectrum of quirky relatives, as Abbie attempts to gain possession of a locked trunk given to her by her deceased father, but confiscated by a vindictive mother. I highly recommend Beyond the Pale.
